How the result works

The orange polygons come from USDA Rural Development's public GIS service. USDA describes layer 4, RHS SFH MFH, as the ineligible areas for Rural Development housing and says the dataset changes often. A searched point inside that layer is shown as appears ineligible; a point outside it is shown as appears eligible. The address is geocoded using the U.S. Census geocoder. The income panel reads USDA's current FY 2026 Guaranteed Housing limits document and matches the Census county/metro area to the USDA area. If the automatic area match is uncertain, the tool tells the user to verify on USDA's official worksheet rather than guessing.
