Military income
Base pay and qualifying military allowances can count, but active duty and Guard/Reserve history are not treated identically.
Fannie active duty
Fannie has no set minimum history requirement for active-duty military income. The lender generally documents income using the current Leave and Earnings Statement and required employment verification.
Fannie Guard / Reserve
For National Guard or Reserve income, Fannie requires a minimum 12-month history.
Allowances
Qualifying military allowances can be included when there is no indication the income will be reduced or discontinued. Location- or duty-specific pay should be reviewed carefully.
Freddie
Freddie likewise treats active-duty base pay as non-fluctuating employment earnings and states that a history of military employment is not required for active-duty members. Military entitlements, Reserve and National Guard earnings have separate Guide provisions.
