HUD currently offers qualifying GNND buyers a 50% discount from the list price of an eligible HUD-owned property in a designated revitalization area.
Who qualifies?
Eligible participants include qualifying law-enforcement officers, pre-K through 12th-grade teachers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians who satisfy HUD's occupational requirements.
36-month occupancy
The buyer commits to occupy the property as a sole/principal residence for 36 months. HUD secures the discount through a silent second mortgage/note; no interest or payments are required when the occupancy obligation is fulfilled.
$100 down with FHA
HUD's program materials state that eligible GNND participants using FHA-insured financing may qualify for a down payment of only $100, subject to the program's requirements.
